There is spiritual life, and then there is psychological life. There is physical life too. We are going to look at the psychological in this live online class. How to make the mind work for you rather than against you?
The mind is supposed to be the mediating agency between the spirit and the physical. It is supposed to enable the visions of the spirit but often it simply acts from its own programming. That programming typically has been received after birth from external agencies which are not attuned to the Will of the Universe nor the visions of the spirit. Indeed the first unhealthy thing a new-born baby learns is that it does wrong. It is only once the idea that the child is wrong has been instilled in a child that pressure can be exerted upon the child from the viewpoint that it is wrong and needs to change. The child then automatically blames itself when life does not fit certain ideas.
Regardless, of the particular mental programming a child has received, it is unlikely to be optimal. What this means is that your mind programming has not been optimal because you were that child. It may also handicap your mind and prevent you from having certain abilities, competencies and opportunities. It's like installing a Windows 95 on a Vista PC, not only is it not optimal it may damage the productivity of your machine.
When you consider the aim, direction and value of your life then you have a measure of how, and if, your mind is serving you. Is your mind enabling you to do the road you must go - or is stopping and frustrating you? Even if you dream the "impossible dream" if that is the way which you are supposed to go then your mind should support you and not prevent you. After all it's your mind - you are the owner and you can own it.
