Identification with the body starts at an early age. It’s at least necessary to have some sense that “this body is connected to me”. However it all starts to go wrong when the mind ideates about what you are. The mind does not have its own external senses. To know the world outside it depends on information. Vitally important sensory and extrasensory information is discarded in favour of learned intellectual opinions. In this way an erroneous self-concept is born and the being falls into a trap of misidentification.
It’s difficult for the mind to drop the root concept around which all of its information is structured. The mind cannot do it by itself. Trying to do so may destabilise it. A solution has to come from outside. There are many speculative theories and fundamentalist convictions – but these do not work and can be messy. Fortunately, life itself has provided an answer within the very life-force in your body. You can access it and be guided to total freedom from the mind’s cloying control.
